Nearly three decades of dental education in Bangladesh

History

Bangladesh Dental College was established in 1996 by visionary individuals committed to advancing dental education, operating under the Bangladesh Medical Studies and Research Institute (BMSRI), a nonprofit organization dedicated to public service.

The college affiliated with the University of Dhaka in February 1997 and commenced operations in June 1998. The first cohort of students appeared for the 1st Professional BDS Examination of the University of Dhaka in June 1998, and recognition from the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council followed swiftly.

Over nearly three decades, the college has trained over 2,000 skilled dental professionals, contributing significantly to the country's and the global dental healthcare system. The affiliated hospital provides comprehensive dental care with 52 inpatient beds and both indoor and outdoor facilities, serving as a training ground for students and residents while offering accessible healthcare services to the community.
